Philip I. Waitzman MBA, MPH, MA, LCSW, has a dual background in both clinical care and executive leadership.  As a clinician, Phil has worked with adult patients experiencing a wide range of challenges and trauma.  With a warm, and engaging style of care, Phil's therapeutic style starts with developing a connection and a relationship.  This patient centric and collaborative approach is aimed at embracing a therapeutic process that provides a safe and goal-oriented environment.  Phil's process includes incorporating learnings from the past while exploring current challenges.  This style of connecting a wider range of influences encourages a "real-life," practical approach to both understanding root causes while learning and coping with present struggles.  Phil's authentic warmth and humor is inviting.  He aims to lift up people through validating feelings and emotions all with the intent to find a better and healthier way forward.

Phil utilizes a combination of techniques that are customized to each person's needs. In addition to utilizing psychodynamic approaches aimed at learning about early life experiences, Phil integrates cognitive therapy for exploring current challenges. Integration of mindfulness and learning how to be present in the moment is a rich part of the therapeutic process. Using a non-judgmental and embracing approach, Phil's warmth encourages and empowers people to explore their challenges openly. In addition to clinical practice, Phil has a deep background in leadership within professional associations, nonprofits, higher education and professional services.  Phil has served as a President, CEO, Executive Director or Consultant to organizations, schools and associations across industry segments with needs ranging from strategic growth and Board development, management and marketing, enrollment and fundraising to program development.

Leveraging his clinical work and exposure to service environments where higher education was needed, Phil has developed a career on building organizational health through strategy, operational strength and partnerships.  His approach internally includes staff development while concurrently serving clients and members.  Phil's holistic approach to leading and supporting organizations leverages a matrix style of collaboration which elevates all stakeholders including board of directors, staff, members, clients and so on.

Phil has a bachelor’s degree from Drake University located in Des Moines, Iowa.  He has since completed three master’s degrees focused in social work (University of Chicago), and business and public health (University of Illinois at Chicago).

Philip Waitzman is clinically licensed in Illinois and Michigan.
