“"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves."
— Viktor Frankl
Blake Kuehn is a counselor-in-training at Northwestern University, pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. His training is rooted in psychodynamic theory and guided by multicultural humility and ethical practice. Blake is a student member of the American Counseling Association, the Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association, and the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy. A Michigan resident, Blake is interested in working with underserved rural communities, adults navigating neurodiversity, trauma, grief and loss, complex sexual and relational challenges. Additionally, Blake’s graduate research studies are focused on AI-driven mental health support solutions aimed at expanding access to therapy and ensuring technology serves human well-being in an ethical, responsible, and safe manner.
Prior to pursuing a graduate education, Blake spent over two decades working in the live entertainment industry in Los Angeles as a digital marketing executive and technologist for global music companies such as Universal Music Group, AEG Presents, and Live Nation. In addition to pursuing his graduate degree, Blake holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.
Blake’s approach to counseling is centered on helping clients better understand themselves, their patterns, and the deeper meanings behind their experiences. He works from the belief that many present challenges are shaped by past experiences and relationships, even when a person may not be fully aware of them. By exploring these influences, clients can begin to recognize how old patterns may still be affecting their lives today. He believes that therapy is not just about reducing symptoms, but also about creating a space where clients can reflect on who they are, what matters most to them, and how they want to live moving forward. In his work, Blake seeks to support clients in developing greater self-awareness, working through struggles with honesty and compassion, and fostering a deeper sense of meaning and choice in their lives.
