Abigail Segovia,

LCSW

Abigail Segovia, affectionately known as Abby, is an experienced and passionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Psychiatric & Psychological Specialties (PPS). Her journey in the field of mental health began with an internship at a high school outside of Chicago, followed by full time roles as a school social worker in mostly high schools and one year in an elementary school, and presently continues to work full time as a high school social worker. Abby's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Winona State University (2014) and a Master's Degree from the prestigious UIC Jane Addams College of Social Work (2015). This comprehensive training has equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide exceptional care to her clients. Abigail Segovia holds the esteemed title of Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Michigan, allowing her to serve a diverse clientele across multiple states.

In her school roles, Abby had a caseload of students with social work services in special education programs, fostering collaboration with parents/guardians and the IEP team. Beyond this, she provided support to students in general education, addressing crises when necessary. Abby also led groups for students with autism and those identifying as transgender or gender non-conforming, demonstrating her commitment to inclusivity and understanding diverse perspectives. Serving as a liaison between the school and local behavioral health hospitals, Abby ensured seamless transitions for students utilizing hospital services, providing continuity of care and support throughout their journey. In 2017, Abby embarked on a new path as a group fitness instructor at a local YMCA. Abby obtained her personal training certification and joined F45, where she coached classes and worked individually with members to instill healthier lifestyle habits.

Now, as a psychotherapist at PPS, Abby's passionate and health-centered approach encompasses movement, examination of current lifestyle habits, and the establishment of realistic and sustainable goals to enhance overall wellness. Her unique perspective allows her to address the multifaceted aspects of well-being, empowering her clients to achieve a harmonious balance between mind, body, and spirit.
