Swati Bajpai, LCSW (she/her) is a psychotherapist with Psychiatric and Psychological Specialties. She completed MSW at Jane Addams College of Social Work, University of Illinois, Chicago. 

Swati’s specialty areas of practice include grief and loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, life-stage transitions, self-esteem issue, acculturation difficulties and work/life balance. 

Swati has previously worked as a Crisis Intervention Specialist at the DuPage County Health Department where she worked with clients with serious mental illness helping them with conflict resolution, medicine management, advocacy for their mental and physical health and developing healthy coping skills. 

Swati is a trained Suicide Prevention Specialist and responded to calls for  Suicide Prevention Lifeline while working as a Crisis Counselor. 

Swati utilizes an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating psychoeducation, insight development, mindfulness with an emphasis on the unique social and cultural experience of each client. Swati’s approach to treatment is very person-centered. Swati considers treatment to be collaborative and strength based. She focuses on her client’s unique and subjective experiences to provide care best suited to their individual needs. Her aim is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space in which one can tell their story and safely process their current and past experiences to facilitate growth. 

Swati seeks to empower individuals through validation, exploration of meaning of life and identifying their unique strengths and coping skills. 

She is trained in evidence-based practices such as: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. Swati also uses cognitive-behavioral techniques, grief therapy and strength and solutions focused therapeutic approach to treatment. 

Swati utilizes her experience of living in multiple cultures to help her clients understand how culture impacts their experience of the world, how our relationships affect who we are, and how to navigate through life to find a meaning. 

Swati was born and raised in India where she received Masters in English Literature (MA) and worked as a journalist.

Swati speaks English, Hindi and Urdu.
