Marriana Marcarelli, LMSW

Marriana Marcarelli, MSW, LMSW (she/her) received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (2014) from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island and a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Interpersonal Practice/Psychodynamic Theory from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan (2017).

She started her work in the mental health field at Samaritans of Rhode Island Suicide Prevention Hotline, High Road Special Education School, and Westland Counseling during her undergraduate and graduate studies. Marriana’s post-graduate experience includes providing therapy to children, families, and adults with severe mental illness, co-occurring disorders, and substance use disorders in both a home-based and outpatient setting. Throughout these experiences she became skilled in risk assessment, crisis intervention, biopsychosocial history assessment, and active/empathic listening with a range of clients from different social, class, and cultural backgrounds and experiences.

She is trained in evidence-based practices such as: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing.

Her interests and specialties include: psychoanalysis, insight-development, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, family systems theory, dream interpretation, and mindfulness-based skill development. In her practice, Marriana has particular interest in working with those struggling with childhood trauma, self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, relationship/interpersonal conflicts, eating disorders, and addictions. Her approach to therapy with her clients is eclectic, collaborative, and goal-oriented. She seeks to provide a highly empathic and validating environment for her clients and utilizes different theories and interventions based on her client’s needs.
