Michelle Kachman,

MD

Dr. Kachman is a board-certified psychiatrist with over a decade of experience providing comprehensive psychiatric care through telehealth. As medical director, she provides clinical oversight and works closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure care is thoughtful, coordinated, and patient-centered.

A defining feature of the practice is time. Initial evaluations are scheduled for up to two hours, allowing space to fully understand each patient’s history, stressors, temperament, and lived experience. Rather than relying solely on symptom checklists, Dr. Kachman and her team take the time to understand how each individual experiences their world so that treatment decisions are precise, personalized, and clinically sound.

The team takes a holistic and balanced approach to treatment under Dr. Kachman’s medical supervision. While experienced in medication management, medication is not viewed as the sole or default solution. Psychotherapy is considered an important component of care, as meaningful and sustained improvement often involves more than medication alone. When patients engage in therapy, care is coordinated to support shared clinical insight, aligned goals, and continuity.

Follow-up visits are structured to focus on meaningful change. Rather than simply assessing whether a medication is “working,” Dr. Kachman and her team explore shifts in mood, resilience, stress tolerance, and day-to-day functioning. Many individuals have lived with anxiety or depression for so long that their current state feels like their baseline. Part of the team’s role is helping patients recognize when improvement is possible and guiding them toward a better quality of life.

Patients are followed closely, often on a monthly basis, to identify early signs of decompensation and intervene proactively. The focus is steady progress, long-term stability, and prevention—rather than reactive, crisis-driven care.

At Psychiatric and Psychological Specialties, Dr. Kachman works alongside her business partner to oversee an interdisciplinary team of therapists, psychiatric providers, and trainees, with a focus on guiding the medical aspects of care. This collaborative structure supports alignment between psychiatric treatment and psychotherapy and allows care to remain integrated and responsive as patients’ needs evolve.

Dr. Kachman earned her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University Honors College and her Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry training at Michigan State University and has been board certified since 2013.

Her practice is designed for individuals seeking attentive, collaborative psychiatric care with an emphasis on depth, coordination, and sustained well-being.
