Olivia Torres

Olivia is completing her predoctoral internship here at Psych Specialties as the final step in receiving a doctorate in clinical psychology. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and neuroscience and received her Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology in 2015 from Pacific University in Oregon. Olivia is also a fellow of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.

Olivia has experience conducting psychotherapy and psychological assessment with people throughout the lifespan in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health, college counseling, and primary care. She has special interest in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis and the treatment of relational problems, mood disorders, life transitions, and grief.

Therapeutically, Olivia strives to forge a meaningful relationship with each patient to create a safe environment in which to explore how current and past events, emotional experiences, and relationships shape one’s inner world. Olivia believes that in developing a better understanding of these current and historical patterns within the context of the therapy relationship, the patient is able to live and relate in ways that feel truer and more authentic.

“There is no good reason why we should not develop and change until the last day we live.”
